‘Dual Core’ reflects on the inner alliances and imbalances between our heart and brain, between our emotional desires and logical reasoning. Filled with these thoughts, our minds may be pushed and pulled between being creative and generating rational thought. Brazin suggests that these contradictory ways of thinking may lead to a mental standstill. In these fragile moments, filled with potential, the artist reflects on her inner workings and consciousness, raising questions on how overthinking can halter one from making progress. These questions are reflected in Brazin’s body of work, exploring notions of self through the metaphors of working within the duality of mental states.
