My interest in metaphysical ideas stems from personal mystical experiences, which, alongside my observations of human relationships and humanity’s connection to nature, have profoundly shaped my understanding of existence. My paintings draw on symbolism and metaphor, intertwining daydreaming, contemplation, and spirituality with folklore, nostalgia, escapism, and intoxication. These themes remain rooted in ordinary, everyday life. By bringing together these personal influences, I blur the boundaries between the mundane and the magical, presenting the fantastical as something that might naturally exist within visible reality.
Photography is a significant influence on my practice. I draw from an archive of images gathered from personal experiences and visual material encountered online. Using collage as a point of departure, I intuitively experiment with shapes, lines, colours, and composition. I approach painting as a process of collaboration, listening and responding to the work as it develops, allowing each piece to find its own direction. Ultimately, I seek to work with honesty and playfulness while revealing the inner workings of the contemporary self, with all its contradictions and paradoxes.
